About Jakob Eitan

Jakob Eitan is a luxury watch brand based in Milton and is owned by Colin Potts a Milton resident

ABOUT JAKOB EITAN:

The name Jakob Eitan is derived from those of my twin boys.  When they were born, my wife Samantha, celebrated by designing the stylized “JE” and committing to it as a tattoo for her wrist.  When the brand was formed, the “JE” symbol seemed a fitting choice, and became the Jakob Eitan logo.

February 2021 saw the release of the first Jakob Eitan watch with a blue dial, and recently in December of 2021 a second release with black dial.

When creating these watches, materials and quality were of the utmost importance.  As a result, the watches are made of solid 316 Stainless Steel housing a Sapphire crystal, the standard in luxury watch making, and has a high quality Japanese quartz movement.

ABOUT THE INSPIRATION:

The 1970s were a tumultuous, but exciting time for watchmaking around the world.  It was the dawn of the quartz watch when released to market in 1969.  This release put the Swiss watch industry under heavy pressure to catch up to quartz technology, which was changing the nature and market for mechanical watches.  The crisis was a catalyst for creativity, and the watch industry responded with bold and angular designs.  These 1970s watches have become modern classics, and it is from this design language that the Jakob Eitan sports watch draws.

I am honoured to have the opportunity to share with you my passion for watches and watchmaking.

“Collecting and repairing watches has evolved from a hobby to a business, but designing a watch has always been a passion of mine, something I absolutely had to do at some point in my life,” explains Potts. “Two years ago, my vision of a modern luxury timepiece that paid homage to the classic 1970s sport watch moved from concept to manufacture. Today, the Jakob Eitan brand, which is named for my sons, is a reality.”
